Paddington Over Station Development sits above the eastern entrance to Paddington Station, with a prominent canalside entrance. The proposed development is for a 19-storey building with 15 floors of office accommodation and ground floor retail, totalling 22,000m². Typical floors are around 1400m², each with their own south-facing terrace.
Inform Design was appointed to inform the façade design from an early stage. We aim to touch base with the Architects and advise the potentials and limitations of different façade schemes. In more details,

Evaluate the effectiveness of different solar control mechanisms and their impacts on Architectural expression and daylight along the perimeter and balcony façades. We assess different
(a) glass types and sizes,
(b) fixed shading elements, and
(c) potentially integrating movable fabrics.

Map the performance of several façade configurations to assist the Design Team in selecting the most suitable configuration for each façade.
